The heartwarming family film A BEAR NAMED WINNIE dramatizes the true story that inspired one of the most beloved children`s book characters of all time. On the eve of World War I, Canadian soldier Lt. Harry Coleburn (Michael Fassbender) adopts an orphaned bear cub and, after naming her Winnie (for the city of Winnipeg), decides to make her the unofficial mascot of his army regiment. When Harry and his troop are deployed to the trenches of France, Winnie is temporarily housed at the London Zoo, where author A.A. Milne meets the bear and uses her as the inspiration for his children`s stories, WINNIE THE POOH.

Director Paul Cox ponders the nature of love in this sincere tale of romance about two elderly people who debunk convention and follow their hearts. An aging Andreas (Charles Tingwell) realizes that a woman named Claire (Julia Blake), with whom he had a love affair forty years back, is living nearby. He sends her a letter hoping to reunite with her. Their meeting stirs up old feelings, and, to the confusion of their families, the two begin a lusty liason. The power of the film lies in Cox's fearlessly honest approach to such questions as the relationship between aging and loyalty, and the interplay between sensuality and love. Julia Blake's performance is touching in its clarity. The balance she maintains between attachment and anger towards her husband, John (Terry Norris), and companionship and passion towards Andreas is remarkable. Tingwell manages to keep from being overly sentimental by a whimsical vigor he injects into his characterization. In flashbacks of the couple's early years, Cox uses 8mm film stock to give these sequences a texture that is the embodiment of nostalgia and ephemera. Cox tells us, Love is the only thing worth believing in. A giallo from director Lamberto Bava, A BLADE IN THE DARK stars Andrea Occhipinti (THE NEW YORK RIPPER) as Bruno, a composer trying to write a score for a horror film. Looking for some solitude in order to complete his work, Bruno rents an isolated villa in the European countryside. Unfortunately, just as he has begun to get some of his score done, he discovers the dead body of a young girl he had just met at the house. Soon, another woman is brutally murdered, and Bruno quickly becomes obsessed with finding the killer. And, when he hears what appears to be a clue on his film`s soundtrack, he believes the answer to the mystery is hidden in the film he`s scoring.
