WINDTALKERS begins quietly--with widescreen aerial shots of clouds that gradually clear to reveal the beautiful mesas of Monument Valley. A bus collects Navajo volunteers Ben Yahzee (Adam Beach) and Charlie Whitehorse (Roger Willie). It's 1943, and the U.S. has developed an indecipherable secret military code based on the Navajo language. Yahzee and Whitehorse are to be trained as code talkers.Then John Woo's Pacific war film erupts into violence, with a savage battle that has one survivor, Joe Enders (Nicolas Cage). Badly wounded and feeling guilty at the loss of his companions, Joe recuperates in Hawaii where he is helped by a sympathetic nurse (Frances O'Connor). Joe disguises his hearing loss and he is promoted as Yahzee's battlefield bodyguard. Ordered to protect the code at all times, Joe must prevent Yahzee from being captured. At first, Yahzee and Whitehorse, whose bodyguard is Ox Henderson (Christian Slater), are subjected to prejudice--particularly from Rogers (Noah Emmerich). But when the unit is shipped to Saipan, the Marines begin to appreciate the code talkers.Director Woo has created a powerful drama. The visceral battle sequences are strikingly filmed and there is fine acting from Cage, Beach, Willie, Slater, Emmerich, and Frances O'Connor, who portrays the poignancy of love in uncertain times.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull-Screen - 1.33Single Side - Dual LayerAudio: Dolby Digital 5.1 - English Dolby Surround - French

His adopted father, Harold Hohne (Martin Sheen) ,and mother, Mary Hohne (Caroline Kava), stage a monumental campaign to clear Bobby`s name, but taking on the legal system that incarcerated his son proves to be a sizeable task for Harold. But the family never lets up in its quest to free their son, leading to a poignant, meaningful film that successfully highlights many of the shortcomings in the judicial system.

Bill (Jeremy Theobald) is in trouble. He's a writer who, when bored with pounding the keys on his Remington, goes into the streets to follow people. He becomes so obsessed with following them that he has set up rules--like not following them when he discovers where they live or work. Then, one day, he breaks those rules. And, as he explains to the policeman he is telling all this to, that was when the trouble started. Bill gets closer and closer to those he is following. He follows one man into a restaurant, and is startled when the man, Cobb (Alex Haw), confronts him. Cobb, too, is interested in people--but he doesn't follow them, his interested is peaked by robbing them. Bill joins Cobb in breaking into an apartment. So begins FOLLOWING, Christopher Nolan's fiendishly clever first film. Nolan was director, screenwriter, co-producer, director of photography, and co-editor, and only able to shoot on Saturdays--the filming took a year. Set in the grimy streets of London, the tightly wound thriller unfolds in a series of overlapping plots, each more intricate than the last, each pulling Bill deeper and deeper into ever worse trouble.
FOLLOWING may be short in length and cheaply made; it is also devastating.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Screen - 1.33Audio: Dolby Digital 2.0 - English Subtitles - English, Spanish - OptionalAdditional Release Material:

Broken Flowers (DVD) Broken Flowers (DVD) » Broken Flowers (DVD)

With BROKEN FLOWERS, staunchly independent filmmaker Jim Jarmusch delivers one of his most pleasing, accessible pictures. Winner of the 2005 Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival, the film tells the story of Don Johnston (Bill Murray), a man overflowing with wealth but void of emotion. On the day that his most recent girlfriend (Julie Delpy) has given up on him for good, he learns, through an anonymous letter, that he might be the father of a 19-year-old boy. Spurned into action by his wannabe private eye neighbor, Winston (Jeffrey Wright), Don sets off on a personal journey to visit the former partners who may or may not have mothered his child. They include the flighty Laura (Sharon Stone), whose daughter Lolita (Alexis Dziena) certainly lives up to her name; the uptight Dora (Frances Conroy), who has settled into a sterile life with her chipper husband Ron (Christopher McDonald); the strangely distant Carmen (Jessica Lange), who makes a living as an
Animal Communicator;
and, finally, Penny (Tilda Swinton), a hard-edged biker who is the least happiest to see Don. Each confrontation leaves Don feeling more lost than the last, spinning him into an even greater state of apathetic confusion.In typical Jarmusch fashion, he wrote the script for BROKEN FLOWERS with his casting firmly in mind; only Murray could play this role. The result showcases Murray`s brilliance as a less-is-more presence. Jarmusch also gives some of Hollywood`s most talented female actresses roles they can relish. A hundred percent Jarmusch, BROKEN FLOWERS is a wry, tender, and bittersweet portrait of a man who is drifting aimlessly through life.

Who'll Stop the Rain? (DVD) Who'll Stop the Rain? (DVD) » Who'll Stop the Rain? (DVD)

In Karel Reisz's film, based on Robert Stone's novel DOG SOLDIERS, John Converse (Michael Moriarty), a Marine combat veteran, returns to Vietnam as a war correspondent. He is overwhelmed by the challenges that face him, and so he decides that in an insane world, it makes sense to to smuggle heroin into the United States, and joins in with a conspiracy group suspected to have CIA connections. His ex-marine buddy, Ray Hicks (Nick Nolte), now a merchant marine sailor, helps him smuggle the heroin to San Francisco. When Ray delivers the drugs to John's wife Marge (Tuesday Weld), thugs disguised as Federal agents steal the drugs. Outraged at being double crossed, Hicks takes Marge with him on the run, followed now by real CIA agents. In their flight through the drug underworld of L.A. and down into New Mexico, Hicks discovers that Marge is a junkie herself. Though she is physically weak, she nonetheless possesses an inner strength to match Hick's exterior strength. Nolte, in one of his first staring roles, is unequaled in his expression of intelligence and sensitivity, while being simultaneously tougher than nails.Reisz keeps the action and characters in the forefront, and in doing so keeps this heavily allegorical story about the corrupting effect of the Vietnam War on America from collapsing under its own weight.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseLetterboxed - 1.85Audio: Dolby Digital Mono - English Dolby Digital Mono - SpanishAdditional Release Material: Trailers - 1.
