WALL STREET: Oliver Stone opened fire on the greed decade of the 1980s with this morality tale set on Wall Street. It stars Charlie Sheen as Bud Fox, an ambitious rookie stockbroker from a blue-collar background who is magnetized by Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas), a Mephistophelean superbroker who specializes in corporate takeovers. Despite his initial resistance to Bud's entreaties, Gekko finally takes on the eager beaver as his protege, schooling him in the kind of slash-and-burn maneuvers that have taken him to the top. This style is far more attractive to Fox than the more prosaic but principled approach to investing preached by veteran Lou Mannheim (Hal Holbrook). And, at first, it's impossible to dispute his preference; as Bud's life moves into the fast lane, he quickly acquires an upscale apartment and girlfiend, interior designer Darien (Darryl Hannah). But when Gekko demands that Bud not only break the law but directly undermine his union leader father, Carl (Martin Sheen), and jeopardize the jobs and lives of his friends and family, he realizes that the cost of success might be more than he's willing to pay. WALL STREET is a riveting, testosterone-fueled tour of the Street's upper echelons, featuring standout performances by Michael Douglas and Martin Sheen.WAR OF THE ROSES: Danny DeVito directs this black comedy about a long-married couple in the throes of divorce at the height of the materialistic 80s, and his second feature far surpasses his first effort, THROW MAMA FROM THE TRAIN, in style, substance, and comedic impact. Barbara and Oliver Rose were the perfect couple--he was a prominent Washington lawyer, she had a wildly successful catering business, they had a great house, great art, great cars and great kids. But when Barbara begins to wonder about life without Oliver, she likes what she sees and sues for divorce; unfortunately, neither of them likes the prospect of life without their opulent home, and war is waged to determine who will kee

When a famous comic playwright like Neil Simon writes a movie called THE SLUGGER'S WIFE, one might suspect that he's jealously thinking about that other famous, although not so comic, playwright, Arthur Miller, whose wife, Marilyn Monroe, had previously been a real slugger's wife. Is this a thinly veiled rehash of the story of Jolitin' Joe and Marilyn Monroe? Absolutely. A slugger, Darryl Palmer (Michael O'Keefe), falls for a singer, Debby (Rebecca DeMornay), but every time he tries to get a date with her he fails, and each failure is mimicked by his performance on the baseball field. But when they finally do come together, his average goes up and they get married. But she's bored and frustrated staying at home and hanging around with ballplayers; she wants to continue her own career. So, in spite of a surfeit of athletic sex peppered with Neil Simon's jokes about pitching and catching and hitting a home run, they break up. She sings, he slumps. The Yankee Clipper and the Blonde Bombshell never got back together, but that's American life, in which, as Scott Fitzgerald said, There are no second acts. But this is a movie, so they give it another try.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CasePan& Scan - 1.33Audio: Dolby Digital Stereo - English

In this romantic urban drama, a diminishing bottom line leads to upheaval at Seattle`s K-Sof radio station, which for years has catered to an upscale classical-music audience. But in recent years patronage and listenership have fallen considerably, and the station decides to switch from classical music to hip-hop. Night maintenance man Oliver Jackson (Walter Powell) is a fervent devotee of hip-hop and strongly supports the shift, but his live-in girlfriend, Rea Williams (Rhonda Rene), has a different opinion. She is the leader of the Sistas of Justice, which opposes rap music and is organizing a boycott of the station. As the couple becomes polarized on opposite sides of this battle, Oliver is increasingly attracted to Janice Green (Tiffany Haddish), the beautiful morning host of newly rechristened K-Hip. Meanwhile, Oliver`s predicament is mirrored in program director Bob Johnson`s (Rico E. Anderson) growing affections for Joy Campbell (Cat Hurston), a music connoisseur who detests rap but has a soft spot for Bob. In a heated battle between love and music, which will win out?

Roland Joffe's unflinching drama recounts the true story of New York Times journalist Sidney Schanberg (Sam Waterston) and Cambodian journalist and translator Dith Pran (Haing S. Ngor), who found themselves trapped in the nightmare of the Khmer Rouge revolution in Cambodia. While stationed in Phnom Penh in the early 1970s, Schanberg and Pran become close friends and confidants, negotiating and writing many groundbreaking stories. When the ruling Lon Nol government is overthrown by the Khmer Rouge, the country is turned upside down--killing is common in the streets, and children become gun-toting informants. Schanberg is forced to flee the country, with his fellow American photographer Al Rockoff (John Malkovich) and British journalist Jon Swain (Julian Sands). Despite their exhaustive efforts to free Pran, they have no choice but to leave him behind. Pran is forced to endure excruciating agony at the Pol Pot death camps, where any shred of individuality or dissent is beaten out of the prisoners. After years of brutal torture, Pran manages to escape and begins a long odyssey to Thailand and the border refugee camps. As Pran struggles to stay alive, Schanberg endures life in New York wracked with guilt over the loss of his good friend, desperately attempting to locate him. This haunting drama is epic in its portrayal of a war-torn country devastated by mass genocide. Images of both great horror and beauty resonate with awesome power and honesty. Joffe's first film features superb performances from a first-rate ensemble of actors, including Waterston, Sands, Malkovich, and Ngor in an Oscar-winning role.DVD Features:Region 1Snap CaseAnamorphic Widescreen - 1.85Single Side - Dual LayerAudio: Dolby Digital 5.1 - English Dolby Digital 5.1 - FrenchAdditional Release Material: Additional Footage Trailers - 1.
