Busby Berkeley, known mainly as a dance director, took a big chance with this tough little drama; his second feature after signing to MGM. The story, basically a remake of 1933's THE LIFE AND TIMES OF JIMMY DOLAN, chronicles the flight of a hard-drinking boxer (John Garfield) suspected of murder. While hiding out on an Arizona farm, he befriends the juvenile delinquents working there, and finds meaning to his life. Unfortunately, a persistent detective (Claude Rains) is on his trail, and closing in fast.Berkeley put his innovative choreography skills to good use in the fight and action scenes, and with the help of solid performances from his actors (especially the Dead End Kids, surprisingly affecting in non-comedy roles) established himself as a director capable of more than just musicals.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33

Keith Gordon's darkly comic film version of Kurt Vonnegut Jr.'s highly original novel stars Nick Nolte as Howard J. Campbell Jr., an unusual antihero with a twisted story to tell. The tale begins in a Israeli prison cell, where Campbell is on trial for WWII war crimes. Campbell is given a typewriter and enough paper to recount his bizarre memoir, which appears as a series of black-and-white and color scenes that shift between 1940s Germany, 1950s New York, and 1960s Israel. The American Campbell and his parents relocate to Germany between the two world wars and live a happy life. Campbell grows up to be a playwright and marries a beautiful German actress, Helga Noth (Sheryl Lee). On a day like any other, Campbell's life takes a bizarre turn as he is offered a top-secret assignment by a U.S. government official (John Goodman in an unbilled role)--to pose as a Nazi sympathizer while relaying secret American code via the radio. Campbell successfully accomplishes his mission by starting an anti-American, anti-Semitic radio program that is revered in Nazi Germany and deplored in America. In a strange twist of fate, the unknown American playwright becomes a well-known German celebrity. After the war, Campbell escapes Germany and flees to New York, preferring to remain anonymous in the booming city. Years later, Campbell's life is turned upside down when he is recognized and pursued by Holocaust survivors, eager white supremacists, neo-Nazis, and U.S. law enforcers, leading to his incarceration in the Israeli prison where he awaits his fate. As Campbell, Nolte gives one of the finest performances of his career. A nightmarish maze of one man's misadventures, MOTHER NIGHT is an ironic and deeply stylized tribute to the one-of-a-kind dark humor of Vonnegut's writing.

John Travolta stars as a Rolling Stone reporter who travels to Los Angeles to investigate a drug case and decides to write an expose of the health-club craze of the 1980s. Reporter Adam Lawrence (Travolta) sets out to trash the fitness craze as just a replacement of the shallow singles bar scene of the 1970s. He even has a title in mind: Looking for Mr. Goodbody. As he researches his story, Adam meets Jessie (Jamie Lee Curtis), a sexy fitness instructor who has little use for scribes like him. Adam charms the reluctant Jessie, and before long the hot couple is working out together--in more ways than one. Suddenly Adam is faced with a quintessential dilemma of journalism: Can he be Jessie's lover and still ridicule her friends and workplace? PERFECT features a lead performance from Rolling Stone's real-life editor in chief, Jann Wenner, as Lawrence's gutsy editor. The film is an intriguing drama that combines the glamorous world of magazine journalism with the seductive world of 1980s super health clubs.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Screen - 1.33Audio: Dolby Digital 2.0 - EnglishAdditional Release Materials: TrailersInteractive Features: Interactive Menus Scene Selection
