In the dangerous milieu of street violence and crime, Richie Jimenez, otherwise known as Mozart, is an extremely talented graffiti artist who's trying hard to stay straight. This isn't easy as the writers he is surrounded by are getting increasingly caught up in gangs, retiring their spray cans for a much more precarious existence. Sam Fuller's (THE BIG RED ONE) 1955 crime noir thriller was the first American film made in Japan after WWII, and features stunning photography of a pre-modern Tokyo dominated by images of cherry blossoms and Kabuki theater. Robert Stack (AIRPLANE!, CADDYSHACK II) stars as Eddie Kenner, a US army operative sent to Tokyo to investigate the underhanded dealings of an ex-GI named Sandy Dawson (Robert Ryan, THE WILD BUNCH). Dawson has taken up robbing ammunition trains, and is also the kingpin of a local crime racket. This adaptation of John Osborne's LUTHER was part of the American Film Theater series, conceived in the 1970s by producer Ely Landau and meant to be shown theatrically just like a play, with tickets sold in advance. Stacy Keach stars as Martin Luther, the German priest who, during the 16th century, challenged the Roman Catholic Church and, during a movement known as the Reformation, created a new form of Christianity. The film begins with Luther as a young novice and follows him as he becomes an expert theologian who is moved to write the 95 Theses, a series of protestations against a church he saw as corrupt.
