Based on Joseph Conrad`s SECRET AGENT, this thriller is about a woman who suspects that her kindly husband may actually be a dangerous foreign agent. Hitchcock creates an atmosphere of claustrophobic fear while depicting a mysterious conspiracy to blow up Londoners in the places they gather. Behind the suspense premise, one can imagine Hitchcock enjoyed unfolding this story in front of his captive theater-bound audiences.

Based on a real trial that divided Australia in the 1950s, this searing drama from director Craig Lahiff follows an Aboriginal man (David Ngoombujarra) accused of raping and killing a white child in a trial that exposed the ugly racism of Australia`s legal system. Robert Carlyle and Kerry Fox play the public defenders who take on that system when they help him appeal his brutally unjust conviction. Excellent performances and thoughtful direction helped this small but powerful film rack up praise and awards on its release in Australia, as well as on the festival circuit.

Acclaimed French director Jacques Rivette (GANG OF FOUR) helms this offbeat look at love and relationships. Marie (Emmanuelle Biart) is the object of affection for clock repair man Julien (Jerzy Radziwilowicz), who bides his time between his business, romancing Marie, and blackmailing the mysterious Madame X (Anne Brochet). Rivette unravels some sensual scenes between the two lovers, with Marie quickly moving in with Julien as their relationship flourishes. But problems are afoot, as Julien starts to notice something distinctly strange about his new love, and fears she is harboring a terrible secret. To prise the truth out of her, he turns to Madame X for help, who seems to be the only person who can help him with his quandary. A moving finale to Rivette`s film subsequently unravels, leaving a haunting and indelible mark as the action builds to an unforgettable climax.
