A cult 1970s British television show, THE TOMORROW PEOPLE picked up a US audience after airing on the Nickelodeon channel in the 1980s. A group of teenagers discover they possess some remarkable powers, and set up base with their computer (named Tim) in an underground bunker. From this secreted location they use their telekinesis, teleportation, and telepathy skills to thwart some dangerous sources from beyond the stars. A show that deserves to stand alongside other British sci-fi series' such as BLAKES SEVEN and DOCTOR WHO, the first two seasons of THE TOMORROW PEOPLE are collected here.

Moody, atmospheric, and bordering on the surreal, this thriller was intended by legendary director John Huston (THE MALTESE FALCON, MOULIN ROUGE) to be an allegory for the repressive American government during the red scare. Though this point was ultimately missed by audiences of all political persuasions, the film nonetheless remains a masterpiece of the suspense genre. Jennifer Jones (TENDER IS THE NIGHT) stars as China Valdez, a Cuban woman whose brother is killed by the authorities; she vows revenge, and joins up with a group of revolutionaries planning to take down the corrupt government. She falls in love with Tony Fenner (John Garfield, GENTLEMEN'S AGREEMENT), an American expat who has also joined the people's revolution, with a plan to tunnel under a cemetery, blow up the car of an official, and then to mount a daring plot to destroy the infrastructure of the government in one fell swoop. The film moves towards its inexorable climax with Huston's characteristically deft storytelling, and both Garfield and Jones turn in excellent performances, with Jones' believable. FRENZY was Alfred Hitchcock's next-to-last film--and the first film he'd made in England in 20 years. It was based on an Arthur La Bern novel and focuses on many of the same motifs that Hitchcock had obsessively examined throughout his life's work: the wrong man theme, the doubling theme (in which one person acts out the repressed violence of another), and the general public's thirst for sex and violence. Hitchcock had made films featuring Jack the Ripper-type killers before, including THE LODGER in 1926, a silent movie about a series of murders in London and a mysterious man who appears to be guilty of the crimes. In FRENZY, Hitchcock goes mod with this blackly comic story about a sex criminal--the Necktie Killer--plaguing post-Carnaby London. An innocent man who is suspected by police as the murderer must fight to nab the real perpetrator and clear his name. Though lesser known, FRENZY marked a striking return to form for the famed director. It was also his first R-rated picture.
