A love story built on honest, clever, quiet jubilation--steering clear of mushiness and sentamentalism--JUMP TOMORROW interweaves the lives and dreams of three unique characters. George, aka Jorge (Tunde Adebimpe), is a sweet, shy man with deadpan facial expressions and a monotone voice. But underneath his stoic surface, Jorge is a true tiger with wild dreams and a passion for life. He takes a few days off work to travel to Niagara Falls where he is to meet his bride, Sophie, for a marriage arranged by his African relatives. On the way to Niagara, Jorge meets Gerard (Hippolyte Girardot), an outspoken French man with his heart on his sleeve whose would-be fiancee has just refused to marry him. The two forlorn men are invited to a party by a beautiful, exciting Spanish woman, Alicia (Natalia Verbeke), with whom Jorge falls instantly in love. The rest of the film is a game of leapfrog, with the unlikely--but perfectly compatible--pair of Jorge and Gerard piggybacking Alicia and her spaced out Canadian boyfriend, Nathan, along the highway to Niagara Falls...and beyond.Director Joel Hopkins presents an excellent feature debut with JUMP TOMORROW. In this follow-up to the 1996 movie PARADISE LOST: THE CHILD MURDERS AT ROBIN HOOD HILLS, which investigated the true story of the brutal murders of three eight-year-old boys in Robin Hood Falls (an area of West Memphis, Arkansas), director Joe Berlinger returns to the same small town (without Bruce Sinofsky, his co-director of the first film) four years after the crime to examine its short-term impact.Originally released on HBO in early 2000, PARADISE LOST 2: REVELATIONS was screened in combination with a re-release of the original, PARADISE LOST: THE CHILD MURDERS AT ROBIN HOOD HILLS. Two Spanish films featuring stars that later became internationally famous--Penelope Cruz and Salma Hayek--are collected together here: LA NINA DE TUS OJOS (THE GIRL OF YOUR DREAMS) and EL CALLEJON DE LOS MILAGROS (THE ALLEY OF MIRACLES).LA NINA DE TUS OJOS: In 1938, in the midst of the Spanish Civil War, Germany invites a group of Spanish filmmakers to Berlin in order to make two film versions of the hit Andalusian musical production The Girl of Your Dreams, one in German and one in Spanish. The German Minister of Propaganda under Hitler welcomes them with open arms, if only to get in the good graces of Spanish leading lady Macarena Granada (Penelope Cruz). Their situation becomes even more uncomfortable when the only Andalusian-looking extras they can find for their film are the prisoners in a neighboring concentration camp. When Macarena befriends a prisoner and attempts to help him escape, the filmmakers find that they may have trouble getting out of Germany alive.EL CALLEJON DE LOS MILAGROS: Set in Mexico City's old downtown section, this is a character study of three neighbors, whose stories intertwine: Rutilio, a family man who fears his homosexual feelings; Susanita, a dreaming spinster who falls prey to a thief; and Alma (Hayek), a virgin who succumbs to cocaine and prostitution.
