Revamping the cop show genre in the 1970s, the brash, streetwise Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser) and the refined, cultured Hutch (David Soul) were the definition of cool for a generation. The show was also characterized by more violence, drugs, and exciting car chases than had previously been seen on TV. Playing the good cop, bad cop routine to perfection, the partners were complete opposites who nevertheless complemented one another, enabling them to solve even the most difficult of cases--though admittedly sometimes not entirely by the book. They were aided by their street informer Huggy Bear (Antonio Fargas), often hinted to be a pimp, though this was never confirmed. The third season opens with a two-part feature that deals with voodoo on an island location. Later on, Hutch becomes involved in a fatal attraction, the pair act as bodyguards for a Russian ballerina, and discover a coven of devil worshippers. Lucille Ball is primarily known for her television work, with I LOVE LUCY seemingly destined to remain in the hearts and minds of American viewers for all eternity. But she carved out an impressive resume as an actress, and chalked up over 100 appearances before her untimely death in 1989. STONE PILLOW was made just before she passed away, and stands as a fine testament to Ball`s talents. Acting against type, she plays Florabelle, an aging New York bag lady who forms an unlikely friendship with social worker Carrie Lang (Daphne Zuniga) after the two meet in a homeless shelter. Carrie wants to learn about life on the streets of the Big Apple, and gets a few eye-opening surprises as Florabelle teaches her every trick in the book. A moving, thoughtful film, STONE PILLOW manages to avoid slipping into condescension thanks to some great performances and a well-written script, ultimately providing viewers with a realistic slice of a life that has fallen far from the beaten track.

Aspiring rapper, Dequan, is intent on leaving his hard life on the streets of Brooklyn to pursue his lifelong dream. His inspiration for success is his unwillingness to give in to the daily hardships of ghetto life. When he loses his job and finds out his girlfriend is pregnant, however, he devises a plan to make fast money. When his right-hand-man Brandon introduces him to a well-known Hip Hop club called The Pit, Dequan realizes that his talent for rapping can make him the money he needs by entering a rap contest.
