Max (Vincent D'Onofrio) is a small-time crook with big-time dreams. He and his girlfriend Jamie (Valerie Golinas) spend most of their time either placing blame for their misfortune or scheming to get rich. Enter Jack (Matthew Lillard), another unhappy soul looking for quick cash. Jack is the owner of the contents of a stolen suitcase which he plans to sell to a known crime kingpin, but needs protection during the transaction. In return, he hopes to purchase the mysterious Spanish Judges, a pair of vintage duelling pistols.
