Lowe plays a Chicago cabbie who is diagnosed with incurable stomach cancer. He takes the offer of a client, to kill a drug dealer who`s been stalking him, for $50,000, in order to leave his pregnant wife comfortable when he passes. After the act is done, things get tricky when his stomach gets better and he spots the drug dealer in a crowd.

A diner waitress, Slim (Jennifer Lopez), meets Mitch (Bill Campbell), a handsome rich man who defends her in the diner.
