Peter O'Fallon's heartwarming drama tells the uplifting story of an unlikely friendship between an emotionally scarred young boy and a mournful older woman. Twelve-year-old James Neubauer (Trevor Morgan) has never fully healed from the traumatic loss of his mother in a car accident. His father (Ray Liotta) has chosen to pretend it never happened, throwing himself headlong into work and a new life with James' stepmother (Catherine McCormack). For these reasons, James harbors a deep resentment for his father. The only friend he has is his quirky Uncle Charlie (Ron Livingston), but even Charlie is unable to provide the consolation James needs. Salvation miraculously arrives in the form of Maddy Bennett (Vanessa Redgrave), a local recluse who is still healing from a great loss of her own. When James accidentally breaks Maddy's fence, she demands that he fix it himself. What is initially a defensive, stubborn battle of egos slowly changes into an extremely close relationship that crosses all boundaries and helps both James and Maddy to confront and conquer their demons. Filmed with sensitivity, A RUMOR OF ANGELS boasts beautiful scenery, inspiring music by Mozart, and yet another unforgettable performance by the legendary Redgrave.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Anamorphic Widescreen - 1.85Single Side - Dual LayerAudio: Stereo Surround - English

While a secret society of Catholic priests hide him in various French abbeys, a network of bitter Jewish assassins track him, and a determined judge attempts to use the law to pin a prison sentence on him. This highly wanted man is Pierre Brossard (Michael Caine) who committed war crimes--not only murdering Jews but also stealing their money and property--when he was a Nazi in World War II. However, Brossard's wrongdoing happened 40 years in the past and he was in hiding long enough that nobody--not even his own wife (Charlotte Rampling)--feels much like protecting him anymore. On the verge of a heart attack, Brossard scampers from one hiding spot to the next, narrowly evading his multiple pursuers.A top-notch political thriller directed by Norman Jewison (THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR) and based on a novel by Brian Moore, THE STATEMENT keeps viewers trapped in suspenseful anticipation. Caine's portrayal of Brossard as a nervous, jittery old man with a guilty conscience is palpably upsetting. Meanwhile Tilda Swinton as the judge, and Jeremy Northam as her assistant, make an excellent and convincing detective team. Interesting film work combines sharp footage of provincial France with black and white flashbacks to grueling WWII executions, making the film visually compelling--an excellent complement to its puzzling plotline.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseWidescreenAudio: Dolby Digital 5.1 - English Closed CaptioningAdditional Release Material: Audio Commentary - 1. This special double feature contains Erich von Stroheim's masterpiece FOOLISH WIVES along with the documentary about von Stroheim, THE MAN YOU LOVED TO HATE.FOOLISH WIVES (1922)Erich von Stroheim's psychologically penetrating and visually gorgeous study of innocent Americans abroad, and their inability to understand the longstanding rules of behavior followed by their sophisticated European counterparts. An American diplomat and his wife journey to Monte Carlo, where he proceeds to bury himself in work. His wife, bored and upset with her husband's inattentiveness, and longing to experience the Continental nightlife, gradually succumbs to the flirtations of an elegant and charming Count -- who, in actuality, is merely a Russian military officer out to seduce her. As events come tumbling to a disastrous conclusion, the woman learns a valuable lesson about the meaning of true nobility, and the difference between appearance and reality.THE MAN YOU LOVED TO HATE (1978):This documentary explores the life and work of Erich Von Stroheim, one of cinema's earliest geniuses and a notoriously obsessive artist. Blood Work (DVD) Blood Work (DVD) » Blood Work (DVD)

BLOOD WORK, starring Clint Eastwood as retired FBI agent Terry McCaleb, is a mystery thriller about a serial killer whose latest victim was the organ donor responsible for McCaleb's recent heart transplant. When the victim's sister, Graciella (Wanda de Jesus), delivers this strange news to him and asks for his help, he has no choice but to answer her call, against his doctor's wishes. While frisky LAPD officers try to keep McCaleb away because his top-notch profiling skills make their efforts seem feeble, and McCaleb's physical strength and stamina are limited more than ever before, it seems as if the case is destined to go unsolved. But McCaleb's conscience weighs too heavily upon him to let the murderer go free, and the only way to clear his mind and find peace is to throw his full energy into the investigation. McCaleb lives on a boat and is well-acquainted with a lazy, drunken young man, Buddy (Jeff Daniels), who lives on a boat in the same berth, so he enlists Buddy as his driver and assistant. What ensues is an excellent police drama that leads McCaleb through an extensive process of analyzing evidence, questioning people related to the crimes, and breaking codes, and results in a chilling and totally unexpected climax.DVD Features:Region 1Snap CaseFull Frame - 1.33Single Side - Dual LayerAudio: Dolby Digital 5.1 - English Dolby Digital 5.1 - French

Joe Somebody (DVD) Joe Somebody (DVD) » Joe Somebody (DVD)

Tim Allen reteams with director John Pasquin (THE SANTA CLAUSE) in JOE SOMEBODY. Allen stars as Joe Scheffer, a mild-mannered man who makes promotional videos for a Minneapolis pharmaceutical company. Joe is divorced and quietly unhappy until the office bully, Mark McKinney (Patrick Warburton), punches him out in the company parking lot, in front of Joe's precocious young daughter (Hayden Panettiere of REMEMBER THE TITANS). The humiliated Joe sinks into such a deep depression that not even the flirtations of the company's pretty wellness coordinator (Julie Bowen) can rouse him. Joe decides that he has to restore his pride by challenging McKinney to a fight, and suddenly finds himself the most popular man in the office. Joe even hires a washed-up action movie star (Jim Belushi in a hilariously grizzled performance) to teach him martial arts. He soon finds that he has to weigh the allure of his newfound popularity against the love and respect of those who liked him the way he was. Screenwriter John Scott Shepherd does a good job of balancing slapstick comedy with touching family drama. Allen shows surprising range, giving a strong and sympathetic performance as an emotionally complex and dynamic character.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Anamorphic Widescreen - 2.35Dual Side - Dual LayerAudio: Dolby Digital 5.1 - English Dolby Surround - French Dolby Surround - SpanishAdditional Release Material: Audio Commentary - 1.
