An independent coming-of-age drama, MELINDA'S WORLD is a distinctly American tale of growing up sheltered in the 1950s Midwest. With the natural beauty of Illinois as a backdrop, this film tells the tale of Melinda, an adolescent girl whose family are members of a conservative religious group. Melinda is forbidden from taking part in many of the activities that other girls her age do, and so finds herself mostly lonely and finding joy in little aspects of life. But her life is changed forever when various townspeople help her to experience the aspects of life that others take for granted, giving her reason to question and perhaps even reject the ways of her parents. This leaves Melinda faced with a choice between ways of life that she may be too young to properly answer.
