Still reeling from the death of her pilot father in a plane crash, 12 year-old Katie is sent to stay with her grandmother. There, while playing in the woods, she discovers that she has the ability to see ghosts, specifically, she meets the ghosts of two French pilots. Stranded between life and death since 1927, the two pilots enlist Katie to help them escape their limbo, and end up helping to ease the sadness she feels over the loss of her father.
